A small correction - few times a week I update ports _tree_. I decide
later which installed ports are to be upgraded.

I upgrade instantly:
- if this upgrade is absolutely necessary (security fixes are, for example)
- if the port in question is commonly used by me (say browser, email
client, etc.)
- any libraries on which ports being upgraded depends

The big ones (say kdelibs) are upgraded only if necessary, the rest "as
it happens" but usually it doesn't take long.

Cheers,

Karol
