This caught my eye because my 1 yr old Dell behaved the same way when
reinstalling windows xp several times. IOW it got stuck for several hours
at the 'recognizing devices' part and when I rebooted it finished up. I
speculated this might've been caused by the nic which is onboard, but of
course it's only a guess. FWIW I walked a neighbor through reinstalling the
same os on his higher end Dell and no such problem occurred.
Since this is the chat list....
I reinstalled the mobo on my old workstation some years ago. Aceropen ax6l.
Same model number, chipset and bios version yet while the old mobo (whose
ps2 ports came loose from the board) took my agp video card the new board
wouldn't so it's been running with a pci video card ever since. The tech
laughed when I told him what happened and said he's seen similar types of
things happen before. So weird though that afaik the mobo was an exact
replacement and everything else the same yet this card wouldn't work.
