Did you do the vlc test with verbosedebug=1?  It might be enligtening to see
whether/how vlc vs dd differs.  Of course, vlc is doing less linear accesses to
the SD card than dd, since it's using a file system.  That can add all kinds of
complications not directly related to the rtsx driver itself.

This might be interesting for Warner Losh (imp@), since AFAIK rtsx is the first
driver which is trying to support suspend/resume.
