BTW, Andriy, I suspect, the problem I describe in Bug #237261 is related... The
endless loop is the same -- although the failing operation is different.

In my case, the drive is not the original laptop HD, but a replacement ATA SSD.
I'm quite certain, there is nothing wrong with the hardware -- and it, too,
works fine with FreeBSD-8.x
