I forgot to mention limiting the linker (lld)
to single threaded operation as a potential
help relative to RAM usage during builds:

LDFLAGS.lld+= -Wl,--no-threads

in a make.conf or src.conf like file used for
the likes of buildworld buildkernel activity.
