I think my idea of the minimum memory needed for a zpool is in effect here.

There isn't a lot on it, but for minimum resources, the Handbook 19.6.2.1 says
"A general rule of thumb is 1 GB of RAM for every 1 TB of storage." So if your
pool is >= 1TB then your are using the minimum ram required to use that pool.
