Looks like the crash has very little to do with ZFS and a lot to do with mfi?
mfi quite badly interacts with geom, so this crash is not too surprising.
I am sure that you'd be able to reproduce it without using any filesystem, with
dd and a raw disk alone.

Maybe try mrsas driver?
