(8.4 isn't accurate, but it's more accurate than CURRENT.)

7.0 is an obsolete version of FreeBSD.  Can you try a recent version and see if
the issue still occurs?

r296775 is maybe related to the topic, but doesn't explain 100% error.  r272528
and r247804 might be related too.
