Bug ID: 218349
Summary: kernel built with XCC=clang36,37,38,39,40,-devel has
broken iwi device
Product: Base System
Version: 10.3-RELEASE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: kern
Assignee: freebsd-bugs at FreeBSD.org
Reporter: kennethsalerno at yahoo.com
It seems that unless you build world+kernel with the version of llvm/clang in
base (3.4) you'll wind up with broken WiFi. Just curious how I could go about
troubleshooting why, since everything else seems to be working.
Symptom is you can't even successfully execute "ifconfig wlan0 scan", just
returns nothing. Pretty sure it's the iwi device itself, but could be wrong.
Steps to reproduce:
XCC=/usr/local/bin/clang39
XCXX=/usr/local/bin/clang++39
XCPP=/usr/local/bin/clang-cpp39
export XCC XCXX XCPP
make -C /usr/src -j4 buildworld && make -C /usr/src -j4 buildkernel
Just would be nice to build the system with a newer LLVM/Clang version.
