1) Yes, the patch includes the EATSPACE.
2) The best reference to the testsuite is the wiki.

For starters:
- install kyua.
- Add WITH_TEST=yes to /etc/src.conf
- cd /usr/src/usr.bin/sed; make ; make install, etc
- kyua test -k /usr/tests/usr.bin/sed/Kyuafile
