First of all, there shouldn't be any 40G drivers in GENERIC, that's just
absurd. Even 10Gig drivers are maybe borderline. And yes, intel cards are much
more pervasive than MLNX and don't require a compatibility layer to work.

If you read the post you'll see that automatic loading support has to be added
on a driver by driver basis. So I'd suggest pushing for automatic loading
support and provide a patch for mlxen.
