FYI, the jails were running 9.2 based on what I find here:

# mount -t zfs system/usr/jails.KEEP/basejail.OLD /mnt
# cd /mnt/bin
# file sh
sh: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (FreeBSD), dynamically linked
(uses shared libs), for FreeBSD 9.2, stripped
