It appears this is not dependent on 'promote' being used, I just hit the bug
again when running 10 rename commands very closely together. 

Thing is, it did not crash the first three times I ran the commands, but it did
crash on the fourth. This is a trend I have observed. After a reboot, the
commands will run, but if you do it too many times, it will stop working.
