We report if the system was booted by BIOS or UEFI via the machdep.bootmethod
sysctl (returns BIOS or UEFI).

I think this won't help though, because it returns BIOS for both the legacy
BIOS case and the UEFI CSM (i.e. simulated BIOS) case, and based on the
discussion here it seems (some) real BIOS needs the PMBR active flag set while
CSM needs it unset.
