When using the package manager (gpk-application) or update manager I continually get a popup error dialog with this message: "The backend exited unexpectedly. This is a serious error as the spawned backend did not complete the pending transaction."

I am using FreeBSD 9.1 in VirtualBox with the GNOME desktop.

Browsing sections in gpk-application or by starting update manager. It appears to happen when querying for packages.
