My fileserver (4 x 1.5TB in raidz1) has only 1GB and it runs fine. It
boots a UFS root though.
The difference to my loader.conf:
vfs.zfs.arc_max="256M"
vfs.zfs.prefetch_disable="1"
vfs.zfs.zio.use_uma="0"
vm.kmem_size="512M"
vm.kmem_size_max="512M"
