>Description:
Hi;
I am attempting to update Apache OpenOffice's code with the patches for FreeBSD support and the first issue I've found is:
OOo Bug 85469 - FreeBSD porting : gperf is old in the base system.
I understand FreeBSD never updated gperf in the system because the
new versions are written in C++ and we didn't want to require a C++
compiler to build the toolchain.
Of course with the new clang toolchain this is not an issue anymore
but with the new toolchain gperf is not required either ;).
In any case fixing this in OpenOffice (and LibreOffice) requires an
ugly workaround that ends up using the lang/gperf port.
Perhaps it's time to re-evaluate this update. It looks like we
don't have local patches there or in the port so it's pretty
straightforward.
