>Environment:
FreeBSD myhost.toyon.corp 8.1-RC1 FreeBSD 8.1-RC1 #0: Mon Jun 14 13:40:28 UTC 2010 root at mason.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64
>Description:
When I log into my gnome session from GDM, this entry appears in /var/log/messages:

Jul 1 04:00:23 myhost kernel: pid 1551 (polkit-gnome-authen), uid 92: exited on signal 4 (core dumped)

Gnome appears to start, but things do not work properly. For example, the number of "workspaces" is fixed at 1 and cannot be changed, I believe because the components cannot communicate with gnome-session.
>How-To-Repeat:
1. Buy a HP Z800 computer
2. Boot to FreeBSD 8.1-RC1 DVD
3. Install FreeBSD
4. portsnap fetch extract
5. pkg_add -r xorg
6. pkg_add -r gnome2
7. add gnome_enable="YES" to rc.conf
8. add /proc to /etc/fstab
9. Fix my.domain references in /etc/hosts
10. Reboot and login
