Running ee at the console and typing diacritics (like é or è) shows
letters as blinking characters in reverse video.

Run ee, type one 'é' and observe.

Not sure whether it is a ncurses or a ee issue but in 7.2 it used to
work fine (even though it didn't in an xterm).
