When extracting a .tgz file that had been truncated (from 1GB to 16MB), the error message didn't report the problem - gtar reported "unexpected end of file"; bsdtar's error was:

l_cproc_p_11.1.072/rpm/intel-cproipp072-11.1-1.noarch.rpm: (Empty error message)
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
