A clean install with the FreeBSD 8.0 Beta3 CD. The open-vm-tools and
fuse* packages have been downloaded from the FreeBSD server
(ftp.nl.freebsd.org), and installed manually (since pkg_install -r gave
me errors).

I'll do so. I'll let you know what the result is. I assume that I can
use the version from ports ?
