Bootloader fails on initial install

Just tried installing FreeBSD from CD. All appears successful until
booting for the first time

Default: F1

Can't work out which disk we are booting from.
Guessed BIOS device 0xffffffff not found by probes, defaulting to disk0:
can't load 'kernel'

OK
Where on earth do I go from here?
