>Description:
This has been tested against 7.0-RELEASE, 7-STABLE, and -CURRENT as of 10/28/08.

mount_smbfs(8) does not currently support connections over IPv6. A quick look at the source shows instances of gethostbyname(), and it likely also does not support connecting to port 445 without netbios (as required for cifs/smb over IPv6)

This bug is more important (IMHO) now as Samba has gone mainstream with IPv6 support with the 3.2 release.
>How-To-Repeat:
Attempt to mount any IPv6 accessible share with mount_smbfs (requires either Samba 3.2 IPv6 enabled server, or a Windows Server 2003/2008 IPv6 configuration)
