Boot up in 6.1 (acpi enabled), log in as root, issue the halt command wait for the "the operating system has halted please press any key to reboot" message and watch the cpu usage on the host OS. For non-vm'd installs the fans in the psu/cpu do that "more drain being performed" sound (spin up and generate more heat)...upon visting freebsdhelp on irc.efnet someone else confirmed the same behaviour but using " a 6.2 amd64 FBSD install on an OpenSuse 10.2 64bit VMWare host"...
