I don't believe it's significant that I'm running in amd64 mode, but the
following are the probe details for the HDA controller:

pcm0: <Intel 82801H High Definition Audio Controller> mem 0xfebfc000-0xfebfffff irq 21 at device 27.0 on pci0
pcm0: [ITHREAD]

pcm0 at pci0:0:27:0:       class=0x040300 card=0x01f71028 chip=0x284b8086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00
    vendor     = 'Intel Corporation'
    device     = '82801H &SUBSYS_81EC1043&REV_02\3&11583659&0&D8'
    class      = multimedia

>Description:
The laptop has two headphone ports. They're both live --- but the speakers
don't switch out when the headphones are in use. I see a lot of commits
to hdac.c talking about other laptops that require some software to
switch to headphones. This one does as well.
>How-To-Repeat:
Boot Dell XPS-1730, plug in earphones, play sounds. Sounds still come
from speakers.
>Fix:

I don't know how this is fixed.
