>Description:
I have an Nvidia nForce 4 sound card on a Tyan S2895 motherboard. I use KDE as my window manager. Every time I run startx, whether it's the first or tenth time since I started my computer, it's as if my sound is muted. Applications act like they're playing the sounds with no errors, but nothing comes out of the speakers. I am required to kldunload and kldload snd_ich to get my volume back. I have checked my mixer settings while this was going on and both main and pcm volumes were turned up. The only sound daemon running is artsd, but I've even tried disabling it completely yet the problem persists. I keep hw.snd.pcm0.vchans set to 4. I'm pretty sure I've covered all the bases to make sure it's not a misconfiguration. It started doing this when I switched motherboards and sound cards.
>How-To-Repeat:
Run Xorg or KDE with hardware mentioned in description.
