The system doesn't reboot properly on "shutdown -r now" . Actually everything goes smoothly until you expect to see your computers bios "start screen"; here I would expect to see the IBM logo again. But just before that happens the backlight of the display turns on again, the screen stay black and that's it. I have to press the power button for several seconds to do a hard power off.

Just execute a "shutdown -r now" for several times, and it will occur at 80% of the reboots.
