When attempting to install Quake 3 for Linux using pk3 files from a Windows installation disk, the system hangs for approx 3-5 minutes, then kernel panics. Will attach bt output, and whatnot upon request.

Get a Win32 installation of Quake 3, attempt to run the latest Quake 3 Linux point release from the Quake3 directory.
