Clicked on a link in Firefox -- the X session 
got frozen.  Tried to switch to the first and 
second virtual consoles -- no effect.

Hit Ctrl-Alt-BS and Ctrl-Alt-Delete.  Ultimately, 
the box went down and rebooted, with a system 
core dump saved.
