>Environment:
FreeBSD cecil.localdomain 5.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE #0:Sun May 8 10:21:06 UTC 2005 root at harlow.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386
>Description:
When I installed FreeBSD,I put the /root as a single label outside the / label. Then I get into the single user mode finding that I can't use the ee and vi to edit the fstab in full screen mode. It's all wrong code. Also I must use the full path name of the command. For example,I must use /sbin/mount -arw instead of mount -arw.
>How-To-Repeat:
Put the /root as a single label outside the / when installing the FreeBSD.
>Fix:
I think when I boot into the single user mode, the systerm will read the files existing in /root for example .profile.But in the single user mode, the filesysterm can't be mounted by itself. So it can't got files that the systerm need.I suggest that
we should put an alert that "Do not put the /root outside the /." in the handbook.Or we fix the systerm to allow the /root to be outside the /.
