FreeBSD pearl.starfire.mn.org 5.2.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE #0: Mon Feb 23 20:45:55 GMT 2004 root at wv1u.btc.adaptec.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386
>Description:
This PCMCIA WIFI card worked just great with FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE, but hangs the system in various different ways with 5.2.1. Things go wrong immediately after the line
wi0: <The Linksys Group, Inc. Instant Wireless Network PC Card> at port 0x100-0x13f irq 11 function 0 config 1 on pccard0
Sometimes I get Fatal Trap 19 and panic: non-maskable interrupt in kernel mode, sometimes I get something about a RAM parity error (but have booted the system with full POST to get a full memory test, and sometimes, it just locks up the system. When I do get a panic, it is unable to perform the dump. I don't have as good documentation, since there's no way to capture the information without the ability to write to the disk after the problem occurs, and because it isn't deterministic on any variable I can determine as to which way it fails.
>How-To-Repeat:
Insert card into running system or boot system with card in slot.
