      gbde causes disk write errors followed by a kernel panic and system lock up while writing large files.  problem occurs while moving/copying large files from non-gbde partitions to gbde partitions.  files this problem routinely occured with were roughly 1gb in size or greater.

      1. setup a gbde partion according to the handbook.
2. attach and mount it.
3. try to copy/move a large file (>1gb) [maybe more or less]
