The snd_via8233 module does not support the onboard sound of a Gericam X5 Force notebook, which according to OSS is a VIA8233A chip. The module will not identify a compatible chipset and won't initialize.

Try to use the snd_via8233 module on a system with a VIA 8233 A chipset.

Using OSS is the only workaround that I have at the moment.
