>Release: FreeBSD 5.3-BETA6 i386
System: FreeBSD xxx 5.3-BETA6 FreeBSD 5.3-BETA6 #1: Tue Sep 28 18:32:48 CEST 2004 root at xxx:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/xxx i386

I've got an SBlive! card, using the emu10k1 driver.
	Playback works fine.
Recording just produces silence. No errors, no nothing.
H/W and mixer settings are Ok. The mike locally echoes into
	the earphones (as it should).

Try sound recording on 5.3-beta6/i386 with the emu10k1 driver.
I've been using the audacity and mhwaveedit programs from
	ports for recording.
