System: FreeBSD edda.physik.uni-mainz.de 5.3-RC1 FreeBSD 5.3-RC1 #26: Sun Oct 17 10:48:55 UTC 2004 root at edda.physik.uni-mainz.de:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/EDDA i386

Mainboard: ASUS CUR-DLS, SMP, 1GB RAM, SCSI (no ATA). Kernel config like GENERIC with some
extensions: using pf, ALTQ, SMP, PIM, MROUTING, disabled driver which I do not need
or use. Utilizing onboard fxp0 NIC or em0 NIC (64Bit PCI, Intel GBit Server NIC).
>Description:
Applying queues to network connections with /etc/pf.conf via 'altq' pushes the
likelyhood of crashes enormously! I recognized this on fxp0 and em0. Disabling
bandwith limiting in pf-config leaves the system more stable.

>How-To-Repeat:
Configure pf and ALTQ, use queues in /etc/pf.conf (maybe SMP should also be
used, but SMP triggers the problem more quickly).
>Fix:

	Disable queues in pf.conf.
