     system "hangs" for a some time while probing ata devices if no devices (or only one per channel) present. if the controller is disabled in BIOS or all four devices are installed. this bug exists
on my system since first rewrite of ata driver in 4-branch.

hardware is: ASuS A7M266 motherboard(amd761+via686bchips) /Athlon-1200C processor/256meg ram
ide devices is: CD-RW Teac CD-W54E,some different hard disks from WD
and IBM

      boot with post-4.4(or 4.5? i don`t remember:( ) kernel on this motherboard  without having ide devices in all 4 positions
