5.1-BETA & 5.1-BETA2 installer won't boot on Thinkpad T23

Hi,

I have just been trying to install the 5.1 betas on my IBM Thinkpad T23
from floppies but the installer is locking up during the kernel device
probes.  I've done some looking through the open PRs and found a match
from 5.0-RC which is still open:

I tried "unset acpi_load" in the boot loader as suggested in the PR but
it didn't help.

Is this issue likely to be resolved in the near future or would I be
better off with the 4.x branch?
