I just recompiled world/kernel with sources from today.

FreeBSD btl 5.1-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.1-CURRENT #11: Tue Jul 15 20:33:08 CEST 2003 root at btl:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/BTL i386

and still have the same problem:

acpi and pcm are probed without any noticable errors

| acpi0: <MSISYS AWRDACPI> on motherboard
| pcibios: BIOS version 2.10
| acpi0: power button is handled as a fixed feature programming model.
| acpi0: sleep button is handled as a fixed feature programming model.
| Timecounter "ACPI-fast" frequency 3579545 Hz
| acpi_timer0: <24-bit timer at 3.579545MHz> port 0x5008-0x500b on acpi0
| acpi_cpu0: <CPU> port 0x530-0x537 on acpi0
| acpi_tz0: <thermal zone> port 0x530-0x537 on acpi0
| acpi_button0: <Power Button> on acpi0
| pcib0: <ACPI Host-PCI bridge> port 0x5080-0x50ff,0x5000-0x507f,0xcf8-0xcff on acpi0

| sbc0: <Creative SB AWE64> at port 0x388-0x38b,0x330-0x331,0x220-0x22f irq 5 drq 5,1 on isa0
| pcm0: <SB16 DSP 4.16> on sbc0

But as soon as I try to use it, I get:

| pcm0:play:0: play interrupt timeout, channel dead

This article doesn't really cover many specifics, other than to point out
that these pieces of equipment which have been labeled completely obsolete,
still have value and function, and not only to the hacker. -- hir4-5.txt
