There are new boards (also from Pine: http://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/
PINE_H64_Main_Page) with an Allwinner H6. Those are very close to booting 
mainline Linux, which means in turn that it's reasonably well-documented what 
the hardware is doing.

There's also an H6-based Orange Pi, I think.
