which leads to use of the system binutils
built in that area, not the ones from ports,
at least for that command.

If such also applies to the link of the
kernel.full then. . .

What version of the system is running and what
version of the system is being built? Is this
a context where ld is lld from the system
llvm/clang tool set? Or is ld from a build of
the old system binutils?
