            Bug ID: 221719
Summary: Realtek Gbit NIC bug on Pine64s
           Product: Base System
           Version: CURRENT
          Hardware: arm64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Many People
          Priority: ---
         Component: arm
          Assignee: freebsd-arm at FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: gergely.czuczy at harmless.hu

Hello,

I've ordered a Pine64, and started using it with FreeBSD, however I very soon
found out, that the Gbit NIC has a serious flaw: it's unstable in gbit mode,
however it's mostly stable on 100base-TX.

The Pine64 guys told me to check the pine64 and armbian forums regarding it,
here are some threads about it:
https://github.com/longsleep/build-pine64-image/issues/5
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=597&pid=15449#pid15449

And DamnHippi found the following very useful resources on the bug as well:
https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/8/22/5

Theard starts here: https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/8/22/9

Also, to make it more tricky, not all Pine64 boards are having this issue.

I hope these resources help fixing it.

Regards,
Gergely

PS: I'm reachable on freenode/EFNet as phx, if any testing is needed, or access
to a buggy board.
