required xdev line to build r-pi on crochet?

I created the attached patch this morning. It stops using the xdev
toolchain to build U-Boot. I've build an image for RPi with this, but
haven't had time to test it yet.

It feels like this is a better approach to build U-Boot than keep trying
to catch up to changes to the FreeBSD toolchain.

The patch needs work before it can be pushed upstream as it will break
any platform that still uses xdev to build U-Boot.
