I might be wrong here, but I couldn't find an option to build zfs  
support into the kernel (maybe because it has a third party license?),  
so I simply built the zfs support via modules which works for me - I  
didn't really see the need for monolithic zfs support tbh as it's not  
stable enough to run root on zfs, anyway, so having it as module  
that's loaded post-boot didn't seem like an issue to me.
