mod_wsgi port for Apache 2?

I'm curious why there are a mod_wsgi ports for Apache 1.3, but not 
for Apache 2.

I was able to install mod_wsgi from source without difficulty.  But 
I'd prefer to use a port.  So I'd like to know if there's a reason a 
port for Apache 2 is not needed.
