After enabling powerd, my system began having system freezes (requiring a hard reboot) on a daily basis.

The system is using some fairly recent hardware
- Intel E-1245 Xeon processor
- Intel C206 chipset

Enable powerd with default settings.

add "-m 500" to the powerd flags in rc.conf.  The number was chosen arbitrarily.
