a ktrace is attached for this sample code:

#include <stdio.h>

int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
    printf("char* %d\n", sizeof(char*));
    printf("int* %d\n", sizeof(int*));
    printf("void* %d\n", sizeof(void*));
    printf("long %d\n", sizeof(long));
    printf("double %d\n", sizeof(double));
    printf("int %d\n", sizeof(int));
    return 0;
}

this was compiled on a 5.3 i386 machine with:  g++ -g
