amd64 and FreeBSD 5.2.1

"not supported" means that if you have problems, then update
to 5.3; otherwise don't expect help.

gdb is the debugger in 5.3.

A year old discussion is probably not relevant here.

Do yourself a big favor and upgrade to 5.3.
