atacontrol rebuild ?

Hi,

     Is atacontrol rebuild working?  I had a mirror configuration 
needing a rebuild on a freebsd-amd64, and nothing happened after running 
atacontrol rebuild 0.  Not even an error message.  Should I avoid 
ataraid and go for gmirror or gvinum instead?
