Oh.. that is in fact not too difficult: use a serial console.  Your machine
will happily talk 9600N81 on its serial port from that point on.

You can also do a >>> SET CONSOLE SERIAL from the VGA console, and after
an INIT your console will show up

Once you have the serial port connected to (say) another FreeBSD box
you can use something like tip to connect to the Alpha.  I assume
you know how to capture things with 'script' or something like that.

That output is of course quite easily email-able
