console difference on DDB reboot with PC164

Whenever I reboot a PC164 from break invooked DDB the serial is broken
within FreeBSD on further boots until power-cycle.
Everything looks OK within SRM, but once the kernel takes over control
it seems that interrupts get lost - characters are only send in blocks
and received only if characters are send.
This is a PC164 specific problem.
A reboot from any shell does work fine as well as rebooting from DDB
after a panic - at least for all panics I remember.
Has anyone a idea what happens specially with serial interrupts if
DDB gets invooked via break?
